Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Billy Joel was honoured with the 2,262 star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Joel, 55, has been a pop-music staple since 1973, and the release of his breakthrough album, Piano Man. His many hits include Uptown Girl, Pressure and Just the Way You Are.

With some 80-million records sold in the United States alone, Billy Joel is the third highest selling solo artist of all time after Garth Brooks and Elvis Presley.

Among Joel's latest projects is the Tony-winning stage musical Movin' Out, which combines many of Joel's tunes with choreography by Twyla Tharp. The musical marked its Los Angeles debut last Friday at Hollywood's legendary Pantages theatre, which also serves as the site of Joel's star. (AP)
